Velvetina is one of the best female crias we have produced, with her excellent conformation, strong frame, great head, and lustrous dark brown fiber. She is readily noticed in the pasture, and she is very easy to handle in the barn and on the lead. Velvetina is friendly and gentle, and a favorite in our herd.

Velvetina’s dam, Olivia, is a blue ribbon Peruvian Prestige daughter, which makes her a granddaughter to the famous PPPeruvian Royal Fawn. Velvetina’s sire is multiple Champion Black Huacaya, Hilltop’s Dreamer’s Advocate, who passed on his stature, perfect bite and especially his outstanding fiber character to his offspring.

Velvetina was  bred in the Fall of 2008 to 12 time Color Champion  NM Beethoven, owned by Vermont Alpaca Company and Pond View Alpacas. We can’t imagine a better pairing, and we are expecting a powerhouse cria late next summer.

August 2009 update:  Velvetina gave birth to Beethoven's Wildflower Serenade on Aug.19, 2009.  Please look for information about this incredible cria on our Crias page.

Velvetina has now been bred, with pregnancy confirmed,  to 20 time Halter Championship winner HRF Peruvian Challenger of Hickory Ridge Farm.   We anticipate another outstanding offspring from Velvetina in August of  2010.

August 9, 2010 - Knickerbocker has arrived!  Velvetina and Challenger have produced a light fawn son with dense, crimpy curly fleece.  This boy already seems destined for stardom; he has that air of importance, and he is quite dominant with the other crias.  Knick is surely a young male to watch.  He will be part of our show string beginning in the Spring of 2011.

Velvetina has been bred to Snowmass Royal Rose for a Fall 2012 birth.  We are very impressed with this dam's record for producing outstanding crias.

October, 2011:Forget-Me-Not has arrived, and she truly is unforgettable!  Medium brown with black points, Fergie is so impressive, we can't wait to introduce her.  Royal Rose is well known for producing champion offspring, and we believe that this cria has the same potential.  She will be one to watch!

Velvetina has been held open for the winter, to get her on an earlier in the year, summer birthing schedule.  Tough to do, but we have great plans for her next breeding..... details to follow.
